Poland Nursing PWZ Exam Details 2026:
Language Certificate, Adaptation Period and Licensing Steps
波蘭護理執照考試細節:沒有 NCLEX 式國考,真正關鍵是 PWZ 與波蘭語證書
Poland does not use a separate NCLEX-style national nursing licensure examination. For nursing graduates, the practical licensing route is BSc Nursing plus PWZ registration, Polish-language evidence and, for some foreign-qualification cases, adaptation or qualification-recognition steps. This briefing focuses on the exam-like part families most often ask about: the Polish language certificate and PWZ documentation.

Poland does not run an NCLEX-style national nursing licence exam
For nursing families, the most important correction is simple: Poland does not operate a separate NCLEX-style national nursing licensure examination for local BSc Nursing graduates.
The licensing route is built around completion of a compliant nursing programme, application for PWZ through the nurses and midwives chamber system, and satisfaction of language, health, character and administrative requirements.
Polish graduates and English-taught graduates still need to think about language
A Polish BSc Nursing programme normally includes clinical training as part of the degree, so a graduate is not usually looking for another national theoretical nursing exam after graduation.
However, English-taught international graduates should not assume that an English degree removes the language issue. For practice in Poland, official evidence of Polish ability in speech and writing is usually the decisive practical barrier.
The exam-like component is usually the Polish language certificate
The certificate examination is administered under the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language. The test covers written and oral competence, including reading, listening, grammar, writing and speaking.
Official fee guidance says centres set their own fee within statutory maximums. For adults, B1 and B2 are capped at 150 EUR, with a separate certificate issuing fee. Nursing applicants should check the latest centre list and session dates at certyfikatpolski.pl.
Foreign qualifications can add nostrification and adaptation steps
Applicants with foreign nursing qualifications may need qualification recognition or nostrification, and some cases may involve a limited right to practise for an adaptation period before full PWZ can be granted.
This is not the same situation as a student who completed a recognised Polish nursing degree. Families should separate Polish-graduate cases from foreign-qualification cases when asking schools or chambers for advice.
EU onward recognition is still a separate target-country process
Once a nurse has a Polish qualification and PWZ, EU recognition under Directive 2005/36/EC may support onward registration in another European country, particularly for general care nursing qualifications that meet the harmonised training requirements.
Even then, destination countries can still ask for their own language evidence, regulator registration, health and character documents, and sometimes adaptation or additional assessment.
