Harbour Bean Cafe

Harbour Bean Cafe is an independent cafe near a railway station. It has steady weekday footfall but weak weekend sales. The owner wants to improve local student and family engagement through a low-budget social media campaign, loyalty card and partnership with a nearby bookstore.

Student task: prepare a short report that explains the current marketing problem, recommends a suitable promotional approach and evaluates the likely limits of the recommendation.

這不是要學生寫廣告文案。

本題的核心不是「想一個好看的宣傳活動」,而是訓練學生如何把企業問題、目標顧客、低成本渠道、證據與限制放進一個清楚的 business report。

學生需要證明自己理解 marketing decision,而不是只描述 cafe 很需要宣傳。

讀題順序:先圈出 business problem,再圈出 target customers,最後圈出 evaluate。這三個詞決定整篇 report 的結構。

  • Evaluate:不是寫優缺點清單,而是作出有條件的判斷。
常見失分點

中文理解正確,但英文輸出失控。

  • 把「推廣」寫成純廣告口號,沒有 business reasoning。
  • 把「證據」理解成自己編一組數字,造成 academic integrity 風險。
  • 把「評估」寫成最後一句 however,前面沒有任何 evidence support。

Pass-level direction

Describe the business problem and explain one reasonable marketing response with basic evidence. The answer should be clear and relevant, but may remain mostly descriptive.

中文:先做到任務完整、概念正確、證據基本相關。學生要能說清楚:企業遇到什麼問題、建議什麼方法、為什麼這個方法與題目有關。

避免:只寫「咖啡店應該多做宣傳」但沒有說明目標顧客和具體渠道。

Apply evidence more carefully to the cafe. Compare more than one promotional option and explain why one option fits the business better.

中文:不能只背 marketing mix,要把證據真正放回企業情境。學生應比較 social media、loyalty card、bookstore partnership 的適用性。

Evaluate trade-offs, limits and conditions. A stronger answer explains what could go wrong, what data is missing and how the owner should judge success.

不要直接翻譯中文作文。

  • 用 evidence suggests that,而不是 I think。
  • 用 this may be suitable because,而不是 this is very good。
  • 用 however / therefore / this depends on 連接判斷。
  • 每段只處理一個清楚觀點,不要把所有想法堆在一起。

中文到英文的轉換:「我認為會員卡很好」應變成 The loyalty card may be suitable because it encourages repeat purchases among nearby student customers.

判斷句模板:「這個方案是否有效,取決於……」可以寫成 The effectiveness of this option depends on whether the cafe can track repeat visits and promote the card consistently.
